Assembly

From The Secret World Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search
Assembly is used to create consumables, talismans, and weapons which support the player and their build choice(s). There are no Assembly classes to choose from or skills to be raised; as long as the player knows the shape and has the materials they can create the item. Assembling an item increases experience and is a component of a variety of location-based story-lines. It also has its own category of achievements.

Before an item can be assembled, first, it must be disassembled. Disassembling items reveals the "shape" of the item and provides the base materials to create future items. Once you have the shape and the materials, a toolkit must be obtained and then the item can be created. Assembled items can be similar to those available from loot or missions but assembly will also allow the creation of unique combinations, unavailable from other sources.[1]

To view a demonstration of how assembly works in The Secret World, watch the GDC 2012 presentation beginning at 24:45.

Assembly

Using the 4 by 5 grid, select each material and place them in the proper shape and grid position for that item type.

Each weapon can contain three parts; a prefix, core, and suffix. Players can assemble all three types and then assemble all three parts together to make a completed weapon such as the "Blood Hammer of Doom". Prefixes and suffixes are added after the weapon is created and independently of each other. Each can have multiple stats: The Glyph of Ferocity, a prefix item, adds both crit damage and penetration [2]

Disassembly

Items are placed in the Resultbox and then you click the button that says "Disassemble", which takes the place of the Assemble button. Once disassembled the shape will show in the grid using the materials. You can click the small button on the bottom right to have all the items currently in the Assembly window moved to your inventory.

Refining

You can refine an item type by placing a stack of 5 or more into the assembly window and then click the Assemble button at the bottom. This will refine the item to the next level. If you have enough materials to refine more then once, you can keep clicking the Assemble button.

Weapon Shapes

All item shapes can be learned via Disassembly. When an item is disassembled, the shape of that item type will be displayed in the window, although it may not always reflect the composition required to create the item, nor does it indicate what QL level of kit required. Generally Dissassembly will give you ingredients one to two qualities lower than the item you just dissembled.

Currently there is not a recipe book in game although it is under discussion.[3]

Materials

There are 13 building materials and 5 tiers of refinement. Materials are obtained from disassembling other items and as drops from killed mobs; they can also be traded or sold by other players. Items use different kinds of materials based on the attributes the material provides. The higher the quality of material, the higher the quality of the item. The recipe pages will have the lists of potential building materials. For a list of which items disassemble into which materials look at the Disassembles to table.

Tools

Tools are items that control the type and quality of the item being created. There are a variety of tools ranging from weapon kits to potion tools. During the open beta weekends, consumable toolkits were available from vendors but prefix toolkits were drop-items only. There are 10 levels of quality with some levels overlapping in material use. Kits of quality 1 through 3 use imperfect-quality materials, quality 4 through 7 use normal-quality materials, and 8 through 10 use sacred-quality materials.
